Recreational Netball

We are extremely excited to announce our new Recreational Netball offer for the 2021/2022 academic year. Led by Sophia Hudson, our VP, we are sure that whatever your motivation, you will find your netball fix with our new recreational programme.

We know the last 18 months has meant that a lot of students haven’t been able to play netball and it makes it difficult to get back into sport after such a long break.  At Saints Netball, we are sure we can provide all students at the University of St Andrews some netball sessions to suit their motivations.  We realise some of you may feel a bit uneasy about getting back into netball, but our coaches are here to help you enjoy your netball again, so come along and meet some likeminded people in the Saints Netball recreational programme. Have a read of the recreational netball programme below, and if you have any questions, please contact our Vice-President Sophia Hudson with any questions.

The recreational netball programme:

Recreational Netball is split into recreational coaching sessions (what was social netball), our new recreational league, the Saints Netball League (SNL) and some recreational tournaments.  You can chose to take part in all three offers or just one. We are hoping that through this range of options we can cater for a wider range of desired commitment levels, abilities and interests.

  • Recreational Coaching (same format as previous Social Netball) – an hour of coaching once a week in the arena with a bit of match play at the end (date/time tbc. – please indicate your preference on the google form below).
  • Recreational League (a new addition) – will happen around once every 4 weeks (this is subject to change dependent on uptake/popularity), this is 100% match play in a more structured setting (date/time tbc. – please indicate your preference on the google form attached).  The league will run on the outdoor courts and will be organised (including umpired) by Saints Netball volunteers. You can either opt to play in the league from the start, and just register your contact details and playing positions with us, or you can gather some friends and join together in September.  Either way, we will place people into teams to ensure each playing position on court is covered in the squads.  We will set the league playing schedule and you will be sent the details closer to the time.  We also welcome teams from Halls of Residence or societies to join our league, just get in touch and we’ll allocate you a place.
  • Recreational Tournaments (a revised addition) – we love our mixed netball tournaments and alumni tournaments so much that we are planning to run even more next season!  Join us for a day of fun netball matches which will kick off at the start of Semester 1.  Everyone is welcome.  Keep an eye on the Saints Netball social media for more information.

We are currently wanting to consult on the best time and day to run our recreational programme.  Please let us know what you would prefer by completing this form.  This will help us to plan an enjoyable and effective programme for all netballers at the university.

Everyone is welcome to take part in the Saints Netball recreational programme.   The programmes are open to anyone who wishes to play, we plan on running mixed netball, any year group and any standards are most welcome ♥
